Executive chef, award-winning pastry chef, restaurant owner
Sometimes what defines a person is not always obvious. Not the case with Lisa Bailey. Born and raised in Brazoria, Texas, she is a Texan through and through, and food and hospitality are her greatest passions. Visits with her grandmother in southern Louisiana instilled and affirmed love of copper pots, KitchenAid mixers and refined Southern cuisine.
Lisa’s competitive spirit and interest in pastry and baking her took her on a journey through some of the best kitchens in the United States, including Houston Country Club, Four Season’s Houston, Lilette in New Orleans, and Four Seasons Las Vegas. She was also named opening pastry chef for Corsa Restaurant at the Wynn Las Vegas. It was while in Vegas that Lisa and now-husband and fellow pastry chef Keegan Gerhard created plans for their own project.
In 2008, Lisa and Keegan opened D Bar Restaurant in Denver, Colorado. Local media quickly named Lisa the best new pastry chef in Denver, and 5280 magazine named D Bar among the top 10 best new restaurants in the city. D Bar has won the People’s Choice Best Desserts in Denver for 11 consecutive years since its opening. In 2015, Dessert Professional magazine named Lisa to its “Top 10 Pastry Chefs in America.” Her most recent venture is Füdmill, a commissary bakery collaboration,= with Keegan and James Beard-winning chef Alex Seidel.
